Script or DNS tracking: which should you use?

PartnerLens offers two ways to track affiliate sales. Every app starts with the script, a single tag in your site’s head that reads the affiliate reference from the link and keeps it in a cookie for your cookie window.

DNS tracking builds on that. You add a CNAME record such as track.yourapp.com, and affiliate links run on your own subdomain. Because the cookie is set by your own domain, it is first-party, which holds up better against Safari’s tracking limits and most ad blockers.

Start with the script if you want to go live today. Add DNS once you have affiliates sending real traffic, or straight away if most of your customers use Safari.
